Reflexion Seat Cushion
Vitafoam Reflexion pressure reducing foam About Vitafoam Reflexion pressure reducing seat cushion
Vitafoam has developed the Reflexion pressure reducing seat cushion in response to growing demand for a remedy to combat problems associated with sitting for lengthy periods of time. Circulatory pressures can cause discomfort which might lead to the formation of pressure ulcers. Reflexion cushions are made from a unique combination of materials.
Composition
Reflexion comprises of two distinct layers which carry out different but equally important functions. The upper layer is Vasco, a Visco-Elastic cellular polymer which is both temperature sensitive and energy absorbing , responds to body heat and forms to the body's shape. The supporting layer of Reflex improves support and flexibility for the upper layer.
Compare a Relfexion Seat Cushion's Performance with that of an Ordinary Seat Cushion
The two pressure maps below show the pressure exerted when a user sits on a conventional seat (Map 1) and when a users sits on a seat made from Reflexion (Map 2). These tests were conducted using an identical protocol. The lightest pressures are shown in blue, whilst the heaviest pressures are shown in yellow and amber. As pressure increases sitting becomes uncomfortable and heavy pressure over sustained periods can cause circulatory problems leading to the development of pressure sores.
Pressure map 1 - Conventional seat Pressure map 1 - Conventional seat
This pressure map shows the pressure distribution on an ordinary office chair. Areas in amber and yellow indicate high pressure and potential problems for the users.
Pressure map 2 - Reflexion seat Pressure map 2 - Reflexion seat
Compared to the equivalent conventional seat, Reflexion reduces pressure substantially. This makes a real difference for the user in terms of comfort, improved posture and consistent high performance over long periods.
